International Perspectives on Multilingual Childhoods
(BIP108) - ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΑ ΡΕΝΤΖΟΥ
Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
Internationally, even in countries with an English-speaking majority, like the USA, many young children grow up in bilingual or multilingual environments where they learn and experience more than one language simultaneously. Research shows various cognitive, economic, and personal benefits associated with early multilingualism. Multilingual practices also enable children to fully participate in the social and cultural activities of their diverse communities. However, there are many challenges involved in becoming and remaining multilingual, which this Blended Intensive Program (BIP) aims to address.
The BIP "International Perspectives on Multilingual Childhoods" aims to support participants in identifying and discussing issues of multilingualism in their country and across countries, and the challenges they face. At the same time, it aims at empowering and supporting participants to learn about and use strategies that can support the linguistic, social, emotional and intellectual needs of multilingual children.
